Method 1: Change your DNS Servers

Improper network settings often lead to downloading image errors! In such cases, changing the local network settings, especially the DNS Servers, may solve the issue altogether!

Here is how to do this-

First, open the Run command by pressing the windows key and the ‘R‘ keys together.
Next, in the newly opened window, navigate to the search In the search bar, type “ncpa.cpl” and press enter key.
Wait till the Network Connections window opens. Here right-click on “Active Network.“
Now, select Properties from the drop-down menu
After that, click on “Networking.”

From the available menu, choose “Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/PIV4)

In the newly opened window, put “8.8.8.8” beside the Preferred DNS server and “8.8.4.4” for the Alternative DNS server. In case these two DNS server addresses do not work, put “1.1.1.1” for [referred DNS server and “1.0.0.1” as the Alternative DNS server.
Finally, click on “OK” to save the changes and exit.

Method 2: Adjust the Privacy Settings in Discord

Sometimes the privacy settings of the Discord server also prevent the image from opening. The privacy setting protects your device from any unauthorized or dangerous files. But, the privacy settings may sometimes interrupt downloading of a simple and secure image.

Method 3: Turn off Windows Defender Firewall

Sometimes, Windows Firewall prevents discord images from loading. The firewall can block the image if it deems the image source suspicious or dangerous. Hence, you may solve the discord image loading issue by turning off the firewall settings.

First, right-click on start and then select “Run.” Alternatively, you can press the Windows key and “R” keys together to open the Run command.
In the new window, type “cpl ” and click “OK” to open the Windows Defender Firewall settings from Control Panel.
In the pop-up menu, click “Turn Windows Defender on or off” to turn it off.
In the new window, open “Customize Settings.”
After that, select “Turn off Windows Defender Firewall ” under both tabs Public Network settings and Private Network settings.
Finally, click “OK” to save changes and exit.

Method 4: Change the Server Region

If you are unable to load an image on a discord server, try changing the preserve server region. Often changing the region allows you to solve the issue. But, it is only possible if you are the discord server admin.

So, try using the web version of discord (https://discord.com/app) and check if you can download the image now. If the image is downloaded from the web version, you need to uninstall and reinstall the discord app once again or update it to the latest version.

Cache files for temporary files can cause the discord app to malfunction if the files start to consume a lot of space. So, you can try clearing the cache by the following method-

First, open the Task manager by pressing the Ctrl, Shift and Esc keys together.
Next, find “Discord” in the Task Manager window.
After that, right-click on the “Discord” option to open a drop-down menu.
In the drop-down menu, select “End Task.”
Now, click the windows start button and open the Run command. Alternatively, you can also press the Windows key and R keys together.
When the Run command window opens, type “%appdata%/discord/cache” in the given box beside the ‘open;’ option to open the cached files of the discord app.
When all the apps open, delete them all from the cache folder.

Now, go back to the discord app again and check out if the image error is resolved or not.

Method 7: Flush DNS

If nothing works, try flushing DNS settings by following these steps-

First, type “cmd” in the search option from the taskbar to open it. Alternatively, you can also open the search option by pressing the windows key and S key together and then type “cmd ” there.
Next, right-click on the command prompt icon to open a drop-down menu.
From the menu, select “Run as administrator.”
In the new window, type “ipconfig /flushdns” and press the enter key
Finally, re-launch the discord app
