I have a 5000 sq ft one level home and my modem and router are located in my attic, roughly in the center of my home. I currently have a Netgear R6300, which is about 4-5 years old. I live in a rural area and only have access to 10mbps of download speed. I currently have 8 people that live in this home and we all share the bandwidth. The reason for my question is my kids just purchased a nintendo switch and due to some setting in the Netgear, they are unable to play due to some NAT/port forwarding issue.
