The latest iteration of the iPhone from Apple is the iPhone 14 Series. While the regular iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus received some negativity due to the similar design and processor as iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are well received.
If you got a shiny-new iPhone 14 Pro or the Pro Max, then consider yourself lucky as the demand for these two models is so high that there is a 2 to 3 week waiting period.
The first thing to do after getting the expensive iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max is to add some sort of protection to the screen and the body. If you accidentally drop the iPhone or bump it against walls, it could easily scratch the body or in a worse case, crack the screen or rear glass.
You can avoid such situations just by adding a case and a screen protector to your iPhone. We recently got our hands on some iPhone 14 cases from a brand called Mkeke.
This is the review of the Mkeke iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max Cases. We are writing this review after thoroughly testing these cases with iPhone 14 Pro about the design, protection features, in-hand feel, etc. Read along to find out our thoughts and impressions of the same.
The package has a thin plastic wrap around it. Removing this plastic and opening the package reveals the case is a semi-transparent plastic cover. This is a simple clear case for iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. What else can we expect from the package?
Let us now take a look at the Mkeke Case for iPhone 14 Pro. We will begin with the clear case. As the name suggests, the Mkeke Clear Case is completely transparent. It has all the holes for different openings such as the charging port, speaker, and alert slider.
Apart from these, the case also has proper bumps for the power button and the volume rockers. If you take a look at the back, it has a nice and clean opening for the camera section. We will talk more about this later but the camera guard has raised edges to protect the lens.
The next focus is on the four edges of the case. It has nice bumps on all four edges that act as air cushions in case you accidentally drop your precious iPhone 14.
We have access only to the iPhone 14 Pro model. So, we tested fitting some Mkeke Cases on this iPhone. All the cases fit perfectly on the iPhone 14 Pro. The case just snaps into place. All the buttons and ports are clearly accessible.
The case is slim and after putting the phone in the case, it doesn’t feel big or bulky. Also, the in-hand grip is good. It doesn’t slip from the hands.
The Mkeke iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max cases are made from a combination of TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) and PC (Polycarbonate) materials. The back part contains PC material, which is hard plastic. It protects the back of the iPhone from scratches.
All the corners and the camera ring contain TPU material. This is slightly flexible. As a result, it flexes while you try to snap the case onto an iPhone. Mkeke did a wonderful job blending the two materials and the finish is seamless.
The flexible nature of the corners means that they have a shock-absorbing ability. When you combine this with the raised edges on all four corners, the Mkeke Case offers superior protection when you accidentally drip your iPhone. All the raised edges have a bezel height of 1.8 to 1.9mm. This bezel rises over the surface of the iPhone.
Hence, you can place the iPhone facing downward without worrying about scratching the screen. As these cases do not come with a screen protector, we highly recommend adding one yourself as extra protection. The case works well with iPhones that have a screen protector.
Cameras are an important part of the iPhone experience. You don’t want scratches or cracks on the camera lens. Mkeke cases have a solution to this. The case has a raised ring around the camera section of the iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max.
This ring rises to 3.5mm from the surface. What does this mean? It means the ring forms a wall around the camera module and leaves some room between the lens to the tip of the rings. If you drop your iPhone, the raised edges around the camera protect the lens from scratches or crack. You can even place the iPhone on its back without worrying about the camera.
Another important feature of the Mkeke iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone cases is they do not become yellow after continuous usage. We all had this problem with clear and transparent cases, where the case turns yellow overtime. Mkeke has applied a special coating on the inside and outside of their cases. This helps in preventing the case from turning yellow.
Mkeke claims the case is “Military-Grade” drop test certified. We are not sure about the term Military-Grade but the case can definitely protect your iPhone from accidental drops, bumps against walls, and scratches.
Mkeke has several color options for its iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max Cases. The clear case is the best option if you want to showcase the original color of your iPhone and provide it with protection at the same time.
Next, we have a bunch of gradient colors. These cases are still transparent but come with a gradient of two-color combination. If you choose this type of case, the protection factor doesn’t change but the color of the case dominates the original color of your iPhone.
Here is a list of all the gradient color options available for the Mkeke iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max cases: Black Clear, Black Green, Blue Clear, Purple Pink, Purple Green, Purple Blue, and Clear Black.
In the clear case style, we have a MagSafe version. The magnets, which are built into the case, align perfectly with the iPhone 14. If you want to charge your iPhone wirelessly, then a case with the MagSafe feature can aid in faster charging.
You can use it with Apple’s MagSafe Charger or any Qi-certified wireless charger. Apart from boosting wireless charging, you can also attach all sorts of MagSafe attachments such as a Wallet, Battery Pack, Car or Bike Holders, Magnetic Stands, etc.
The listing price of the clear case is $29.99 but the selling price is just $16.99. If you want the MagSafe version or any of the gradient colors, then there is a slight price bump to $18.99. At this price, the Mkeke iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max Cases are one of the best in the market for the protection they offer. It protects the edges, camera, and screen from accidental drops. In addition, you get a 2-year warranty on the product.
Overall, we liked the Mkeke iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max Cases. Unfortunately, we did not have access to the iPhone 14 Pro Max model but we tested the Mkeke cases for iPhone 14 Pro Model.
The case just snuggly fits onto the phone. There are no gaps or lose fittings. All the ports (speaker and charging) and buttons (power, volume rocker, and alert slider) are perfectly accessible. But be ready to clean the case frequently as it is a fingerprint magnet.
There are cushions on the four edges of the case and also the entire camera section has raised edges. This protects the body and also the camera lens from scratches, cracks, etc. if you accidentally drop the phone. A special coating on the case prevents it from becoming yellow.
If you are looking for a simple yet functional case for your brand-new iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max, then the Mkeke Case is a very good option. You can choose between the vanilla clear case, different gradient colors, or a clear case with MagSafe.
