Power grid control through PC SCADA:

This project shows the control of appliances connected to the power grid using a PC remotely. It consists of an RF transmitter and receiver, microcontroller.

Automatic Changeover Switch:

Generally, in case of failure of power supply alternative methods were used such as generators, inverters, etc. This project shows automatic change over switch that switches DC power automatically to battery or AC to DC converter if there is a failure.

Modeling of the three-phase induction motor using SIMULINK

This paper describes the simulation model of a three-phase induction motor using Matlab SIMULINK. The inputs given to this are the power source and load torque, outputs obtained are speed and electromagnetic torque.

Brake failure  Indicator:

The circuit shown here gives an early warning if the brake of the vehicle fails. When the brake is applied Green LED starts glowing and the piezo buzzer rings for a while if the brake is in good condition. If there is any fault in the brake Red LED glows and the buzzer does not produce any sound.

Design of an  intelligent  and  efficient light control  system:

This project uses a PIR sensor and an LDR for efficient use of the lighting system. This system considers two factors, One is the light intensity of the room, while the second one is the presence of anyone in the room. The light intensity of the room is measured by the LDR sensor, while the Human presence is measured by the PIR sensor. Accordingly   the lights are switched on and off.

Wireless Mobile Battery Charger Circuit:

This project shows charging a battery wirelessly. Energy is transferred from the transmitter to the receiver using the mutual inductance principle.

Soft starter for 3 phase induction motor using microcontroller:

Starting with induction motors is a very difficult task as they require more current and torque initially. There are many methods to do this. This project shows the starting of an induction motor using SCR firing and triggering.

Touch Switch Circuit:

This circuit shows a simple ON and OFF switch using the NE555 timer. Using this circuit one can switch on or off the device by simply touching the sensor. A piezo sensor is used for touch sensing.

Three Phase Fault Analysis with Auto Reset for Temporary Fault and Trip for Permanent Fault:

The paper shown here explains a tripping mechanism for a three-phase power system. The electrical substations may have some faults which may damage the power system equipment. So to avoid this a tripping mechanism is employed.

Ultrasonic RADAR:

Here is the project showing radar that can detect the range of an object. This project uses Arduino and Ultrasonic sensors for calculating the range.

Generation of HVDC from Voltage Multiplier Using Marx Generator:

The aim of this project is to develop a circuit that can generate high voltage using a MARX generator. The MARX principle used in this project can generate the pulse in the range of KV, which is used to test the insulation of electronic devices such as transformers, power carrying lines, etc. The present circuit employs a 555 timer, Capacitors, MOSFET, Diodes.

Phase Sequence Checker For Three Phase Supply:

Phase sequence checking is very important in the 3 phase supply. Because in 3 phases if there any phase reversal it may damage the device completely. This project shows the system for checking the phase of the supply.

6V to 12V DC Converter:

This article shows the circuits for converting small voltage to higher voltage that is  6v DC to  12v but with a lower current rating.

High Voltage Generation by using Cockcroft-Walton Multiplier:

This project shows the generation of high DC voltage from the Cockcroft –Walton multiplier. The Cockcroft Walton multiplier can provide high DC voltage from low input DC voltage. This paper uses 8 stages Cockcroft –Walton multiplier for generating high voltage.

AC Power Control using MOSFET / IGBT:

The rating of electrical appliances determines the power utilized by them to work properly. This project shows the control of that AC power applied to the devices. This is done using IGBT/Mosfet.

Temperature Controlled System:

This project shows a temperature-controlled system. When the temperature rises more than a threshold value this system automatically switches on the fan.

Solar energy measurement using pic microcontroller:

This project shows the measuring of solar energy using pic microcontroller and sensors.

SCADA for remote industrial plant operation:

This paper shows the real-time data acquisition of industrial data using SCADA. The data acquired is displayed on the PC. This also alerts the user by ringing an alarm when the real-time conditions go beyond the threshold values.

DTMF Controlled Home Automation System:

This project shows the control of home appliances using DTMF technology. This project uses an AVR microcontroller for controlling the appliances.

Brushless DC motor speed control using microcontroller:

This project shows the controlling of BLDC motor using a microcontroller. It employs a closed-loop control technique.

Auto No Break Power Supply Control:

This project shows a no-break power supply circuit, that is it continuously supplies power to the load through different sources like mains or inverter or generator.

Micro Controller Based Ac Power Controller:

Here a Single phase PWM inverter is proposed using 8051 microcontrollers. The proposed design is low cost, simple, compact in size.

Programmable Load Shedding:

Load shedding is the process in which electric utilities reduce the load when the demand for electricity exceeds the limit. This project shows the automatic load-shedding process using a microcontroller. This sets the time for which the load is to be switched on/off.

Zigbee based wireless sensor network for sewerage monitoring:

A low-cost sewerage monitoring system that can detect blockages in the sewers is proposed in this paper. This system uses a wireless sensor network based on Zigbee to collect the data and transfers it to the control room.

Conversion of Single Phase to Three Phase Supply:

Smoke Detector Alarm Circuit:

Here is the circuit showing a smoke detector alarm. This can also be used to indicate the fire. This circuit uses a smoke detector and an LM358 Comparator.

Railway Security System based on Wireless Sensor Networks:

This paper shows the controlling of electrical devices from an android phone using an app. This project uses Arduino for controlling the devices.

Overload Protection of Transformer:

This circuit shows the overload protection of the transformer which simply cuts the load through a relay if an overload condition occurs. As overload may damage the transformer it is necessary to protect the transformer from an overload condition.

PC Based PWM Speed Control of DC Motor System:

Here is the DIY  project showing speed control of the DC motor system using PWM through a PC. Here a wireless module, Arduino  are used for communication between the PC and the motor.

Transmission of data using Power line carrier communication System:

This paper serves as a general and technical reference to the transmission of data using a power line carrier communication system which is a preferred choice over Wireless or other Home Networking technologies due to the ease of installation, availability of AC outlets, higher throughput, low cost, reliability, and security. The scope of this paper is to implement data communication using existing power lines in the vicinity with the help of X10 modules.

Cordless Power Controller:

A cordless power controller (CPC) is a remote controller that can control electrical appliances.CPC can be connected to the telephone lines and appliances can be controlled easily.

Automatic telephone answering machine:

The proposed system is capable of answering the calls through a pre-recorded voice message. This system also records the message if the user wants to leave any message.

Frequency Counter Circuit:

Frequency counters measure the frequency of a signal. Here in this project, a frequency counter is proposed which uses two counters and two timers and a timer IC to produce clock signals.

Variable Power Supply Circuits:

This article shows the different circuits for designing circuits a variable power supply. Three circuits were shown here. The first circuit shows a variable power supply of range 1.2 to 30v with 1 ampere of current, while the second one shows  0-28v variable voltage and  6-8A current. The third one shows the 5-12 variable voltage.

Highway alert signal lamp:

This project shows a highway alert signal lamp. When any vehicle approaches the rear window of the vehicle it glows a tricolor high bright LED. They will glow until the vehicle overtakes.

Automatic college bell system:

The automatic bell system shown here rings the bell automatically at the start of each hour. It is required to switch on or off manually. It takes the time from  RTC and the ringing of the bell is controlled by the  8051 microcontrollers. This is a simple and very inexpensive system that can be used in schools.

Put Coin And Draw Power:

This system can be used in Paying guest houses, hotels, etc. A circuit is used to count the number of coins. This count is displayed in the segment. Power is given to the load until the count on the seven segments is decremented to zero.

Fuse and Power Failure Indicator:

This project shows a fuse and power failure indicator circuit. This circuit follows a simple logic using LDR and LED. When the power is failed or the fuse is blown the LDR goes into and the dark speaker connected to the circuit starts ringing.

Plant Boiler Automation Using GSM Technology:

This paper presents automatic monitoring and controlling of boilers in industries. This system uses  GSM technology for communication. Users can check the status of the boiler from anywhere in the world, where GSM is available. If the temperature of the boiler is raised to a threshold value a message is sent to the user. It can be controlled using the phone.

Auto Night Lamp Using LED:

Auto Night Lamp Using High Power LEDs is a circuit that turns ON the LED lights interfaced with it at night time and it turns OFF the lights automatically when it is the day. It is a light-sensing device as it uses a light-dependent resistor. It is a very useful circuit, especially when used in street lights which can be turned ON and OFF automatically.

Anti Bag Snatching Alarm:

This is a simple alarm circuit to thwart snatching of your valuables while traveling. The circuit kept in your bag or suitcase sounds a loud alarm, simulating a police horn, if someone attempts to snatch your bag or suitcase. This will draw the attention of other passengers and the burglar can be caught red-handed. In the standby mode, the circuit is locked by a plug and socket arrangement (a mono plug with shorted leads plugged into the mono-jack socket of the unit). When the burglar tries to snatch the bag, the plug detaches from the unit’s socket and activates the alarm.

Automatic Plant Watering System:

This one of the most useful projects in real life. It helps us in watering plants automatically without any human interference. We may also call it an Automatic plant irrigation system. We know that people do not pour the water onto the plants in their gardens when they go on vacation or often forget to water plants. As a result, there is a chance to get the plants damaged. This project is an excellent solution for such kind of problems.

Water Level Indicator:

The Water Level Indicator employs a simple mechanism to detect and indicate the water level in an overhead tank or any other water container. The sensing is done by using a set of nine probes that are placed at nine different levels on the wall of the tank (with probe1 to probe8 placed in ascending order of height, common probe (i.e. a supply carrying probe) is placed at the base of the tank). Level 8 represents the “tank full” condition while level 1 represents the “tank empty” condition. It can be used in automatic ON and OFF of the motor depending on the water level. It can also be used as a fuel level indicator in vehicles.

IR Remote Control Switch:

By using this circuit, we can control any household appliance with the help of a remote. Electronic appliances like television, radio, air conditioner, etc. can be controlled. In this project, there are two parts: one is the transmitting section (remote) and the other is the receiving section which is stable and connected to the appliance.

Battery Charger Circuit Using SCR:

Here is the circuit diagram of the battery charger circuit using the Silicon Controlled Rectifier. Using this circuit, we can automatically charge a battery when its charge is below a threshold and the circuit is disabled when the battery attains full charge. SCR is used in rectification circuits, inverter circuits, power control circuits, etc.

Stun Gun Circuit:

This Stun gun circuit produces high voltage and low current signal. It is mostly used as a weapon to stun or send shock waves to the target with the intention to weaken or paralyze it. It can be use in modern warfare, protection from intruders, or animals.

Variable Power Supply and Charger:

This is a circuit that helps to check or test your electronic projects at your workbench and also to charge the Mobile phone batteries. This circuit is also very useful during power cuts (blackouts) as it can also work as an emergency light.

Voltage Doubler Circuit:

This is another kind of circuit which helps to convert 12V DC to 24V DC. It can be used in appliances that require 24 V DC supplies like radios, lights, automobile electronics, special purpose UPS, etc.

Celsius Scale Thermometer using AT89C51:

This Celsius Scale Thermometer circuit is designed using AT89C51 (microcontroller) and LM35 (analog temperature sensor). This circuit works on the analog to digital conversion principle. The temperature can be displayed using an LCD. It can be used at homes, mobile places like cars to keep a track of the temperature.

Cell Phone Detector:

This is a simple circuit which helps to detect the presence of an activated cell phone by detecting the signals in the frequency range of 0.9 to 3GHz. It helps in tracking mobile phones particularly in examination halls or important conferences. It can also be used to detect the mobile phones of spies or in case of unauthorized data transmission. The radius of this detector is 1.5 meters.

Temperature Controlled DC Fan using Microcontroller:

The main principle of the circuit is to switch ON the fan connected to the DC motor when the temperature (measured through a temperature sensor) is greater than a threshold value. This can be used in home applications particularly in CPU to reduce heat by automatically switching ON the fan.

Stress Meter:

This stress monitor lets you assess your emotional pain. It can indicate three levels of stress: Relaxed, Moderate, and High levels with the help of a series of LEDs (a combination of green, yellow, and red). If the stress is very high, it gives a visual indication through the LED display along with a warning beep. The gadget is small enough to be worn around the wrist.

Bidirectional Photoelectric System:

Photoelectric detectors are usually unidirectional i.e. they are able to detect when someone enters a particular area but not when leaving it. On the contrary, a system able to detect movement in both directions could be useful to control shops, rooms, etc. If installed in a shop it could allow knowing if all customers entering the premises have left them at the end of the day. Or, at home, it could be used to switch on the light (or any other electric device) when one enters the room and to switch off the electric device when he or she leaves it. Additionally, it can be used to control the number of people as this circuit switches off the electrical device only after the last person leaves the area.

Self-powered Fast Battery-Tester:

This circuit runs a fast battery test without the need for a power supply or expensive moving-coil voltmeters. It features two ranges depending on the position of the switch. In one position, the device can test 3V to 15V batteries and when the position of the switch is changed, only 1.5V batteries can be tested. A set of LEDs are used to indicate the charge of the battery (i.e. full, weak, or empty).

Low Cost FM Booster:

Here is a low-cost circuit of an FM booster that can be used to listen to programs from distant FM stations clearly. The circuit comprises a common-emitter tuned RF preamplifier wired around VHF/UHF transistor 2SC2570. It boosts the FM reception by amplifying the weak FM signals.

Self-Powered Door Bell Watcher:

This very simple and self-powered device was conceived to allow a person to monitor if someone has rung his home door-bell when he was out. The circuit must be simply connected to the two door-bell-coil leads. An LED or a buzzer (or both) can be used to indicate the event (the event is door-bell being pressed). It can store the event for a minimum of 15 days. It can be used for any mains supplied device like computers, television, etc.

Fridge Door Alarm:

This fridge door alarm is a light sensing circuit. It should be placed in the fridge (enclosed in a small box) near the lamp or close to the opening. When the door is opened, the light from the lamp or outside will fall on it and the buzzer goes off for a certain time and stops. This process repeats until the door is closed. This circuit is useful when the fridge door is not closed or it is kept open for a long time.

Design of PM Generator for A Vertical Axis Wind Turbine:

The use of wind power is increasing in today’s World where the usage of non-renewable fossil fuels is at its peak. There are many systems that convert wind energy to electrical energy. A direct driven permanent magnet generator has been designed specifically for vertical axis wind turbines. The generator maintains high efficiency and has high torque capability for the entire operational regime.

Energy Leak Detector:

This circuit is primarily used to detect draughts around doors and windows which cause energy leaks. This circuit is essentially a temperature sensor and can be used where sensitive temperature detection is needed. It makes use of a comparator and detects the slight changes in temperature by comparing it to room temperature (ambient temperature). A couple of LED’s (RED and GREEN) are used to indicate the change in temperature whether it is above or below the room temperature.

Infra-red Level Detector:

This circuit is a level sensor or proximity sensor. It can be used to detect the level of a liquid in a tank without any contact. It operates by detecting the distance from the target by reflection of an infrared beam. The range of the device can be set from a few cm. to about 50 cm. by means of a trimmer. The range of the device is dependent on the infrared transmitting and receiving LED’s used and is mostly affected by the color of the reflecting surface. Surfaces with black color greatly lower the device’s sensitivity.

Portable systems are generally battery operated. In order to operate the device for a longer duration, the energy from the battery must be efficiently used. An alternative, that can act as a supplement or a replacement to batteries is harvesting energy from the environment. The efficient use of harvested energy is described.

Room Noise Detector:

The room noise detector circuit can detect the intensity of noise in a room and signal through a series of flashing LED’s. Three threshold noise levels like 50dB, 70dB, and 85dB are fixed. If the noise in the room exceeds a particular threshold, it is indicated with the help of LED’s. A miniature electret microphone is used to detect the noise.
